Can anyone tell what fingering Luca Sestak uses by watching this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=javascript:%20void(0)3ojt7e88g2I&list=UUfZtzmK-txIdeiwvF_62XwA&index=12

The LH notes are(sorry I don't know how to post music)
CCECGCAG CCECGCAG FFAFCFDC FFAFCFDC CCECGCAG CCECGCAG
GGBGDGED GGBGDGED and the fingering I currently use is

55352512 55352512 35352512 55352512 55352512 55352512

55352512 55352512

Most of the fingering is obvious and clear to me, but it's the notes in boldface that I can't decide on or tell what he's doing in the video.

I didn't watch the video, but that looks like a pretty standard bass line. A fingering you might consider is to switch the 1's and the 2's at the end.

55351521

Another, which is probably what I used to use (don't have access to a keyboard at the moment) is:

55351512

I think any of the three will probably be comfortable, depending on your technique preferences.

Thanks! I can't tell if Luca uses this but I had never considered it. I think switching the 1's and 2's might be simpler especially when the jump to the low note is an octave.

I'm also considering using 55352511 55352512 when the jump to the 5th finger is an octave. It seems like each fingering variation has some pluses and minuses.

No problem. smile

I had a little more time today and went back to look at the video. It's a little too grainy to say for sure, but in looking at his hand motion, I have to believe he's using 55351512 for the majority of the time. To keep it even for the octave leap, I'd probably use the 21. If your thumb is fast enough, 11 is certainly possible. If you're playing the notes straight, the 21 might be better. If you've got some boogie in there and you're swinging the notes, the 11 might be better.

But you're 100% right.. each one has its ups and downs. I don't particularly like the finger crossing over in my boogie woogie, but in my classical, it makes perfect sense. So, that's probably my personal prejudice based on years of boogie woogie before I really learned classical. Either way, I hope one of them works for you!
