Their consumer market may be slow, but Steinway continues to chug along in the institutional market. Kent State is the first school to enlist in the All Steinway School Army in 2013. Here's the press release. Other than the budget allocated (pretty large), the press release bears a striking resemblance to the press releases of other schools joining the program in the past few years. Maybe Steinway helps schools refine their journalism skills. grin The question remains however whetherr a desingation bought and paid for is really an honor earned.

The second link is a video that the school used to attract funding. The pitch is pretty creative. Maybe Steinway will become the official piano of the NCAA.

BTW, of possible interest to those who followed the saga here, Bowie State finally joined the official roster of All Steinway Schools last year. There was little fanfare from Steinway, and none whatsoever from Bowie State. It's possible the publicity attached to the political in-fighting in Maryland dictated that course.

David at Steinway in Hollywood told me that schools are taking all their Model 1098s. I was considering one and had went to take a look but they only had Sheratons.
