Observations:

-- I thought #8 was in very slightly bad taste.

-- #6 made me laugh out loud. (RIP E.C.)

-- Our O.P. Mr. Thracozaag modestly did not mention his own citation in this article!

Funny -- I thought #6 was in quite bad taste, and really don't see at all what you mean about 8. Sure, it's a ribbing of Cage (totally unintentional play on words, BTW) smile but I don't see it being over any line.

Thanks -- I hadn't noticed that.

Wouldn't be the first time we disagreed!

If I had to analyze the difference, I'd say that #8 jokes about how little people care about a dead composer, and #6 jokes about how much someone cares about a dead composer. That's why one feels sad to me and the other is funny.

....but #6 is also about being eager for someone to die. IMO not good, even as a joke, maybe especially as a joke.

P.S. Actually I don't think we've disagreed that much!

I suppose #1 is sort of plausible but that seems made up too....

I know I read elsewhere that the Gangnam Style video had become the #1 most watched video in history. I'm not sure whether the statistics about # of performances of the 9th symphony etc. bear out, but the claim is close enough to the truth to be depressing.

Still think Krystian Zimmerman's rant at his solo recital at the Walt Disney concert hall was most exhilarating thing I've seen in classical music (happened a few years ago).. Not many people liked it, but as a live witness ( I didn't mind)..
