Sign me up as well!!
There was hardly a day in Dec that I practiced, which is especially bad since I started lessons in Nov, but I made it a point to practice Jan 1-3 because of MOYD. I guess that means it is helping me already.

I've been spending so much time on my DP, that I may need an MOYD for everything else in my life.

I've been spending so much time on my DP, that I may need an MOYD for everything else in my life. Haha. I can totally relate to that! I wish I can just play piano and forget about everything else. i had to close the lid on my piano to stop a bit of its magnetic pull... Casinitaly: thanks! I needed that!

OK, I've been a lurker around the Piano Forums for a couple years. I'm an adult returning to piano study after decades of zero to sporadic playing. This fall I got a new and I think, wonderful teacher. I've been trying to decide about MOYD all week and today I can say I'm ready to commit.
It would be great if I could tag along a few other things--exercise, reading, getting outside. Life would be perfect then. Sigh!
Thank you, casinItaly, for managing this.

Reporting in: My piano habit is so entrenched that my fingers ache to play if I'm away. We drove to Texas for a dog show and I took my roll up keyboard. It is not a satisfying substitute but it did help me stay connected to the music. Got home last night and the piano was delighted to see me (or is that I was delighted to see the piano). I missed Jan 4.

My first lesson of 2013 was yesterday--I'm hoping to get thru "Charlie Brown Christmas" in time for NEXT Christmas! 10 songs--so one per month. I've got three versions: "Easy Piano", Really Easy (but lots of page turns), and Not Easy play-along. The not easy will have to wait for another year!

Not sure if this is excused or an off the wagon, but I had to send my bench back last Wed. due to it being defective with a safety issue. I can't just use a chair because I have Ulnar nerve issues and if I am not at the proper position exactly it gives me fits. Musician's Friend says the replacement should ship between Mon-Wen. next week as they have received it.

As there is the ulnar issue, then my opinion is that it counts as excused. Let me know when you are back at the piano and I'll put the dates in.

guess i will sign up again this year. signed up last year but didn't make it. travel etc. however the main reason i fell off the wagon was because i tried taking lessons. it's crazy but when i took the lessons it just made me hate playing the piano. the bad part is i had a really good teacher - guess i'm just afraid of commitment (don't tell my wife). it took me about 4 months before i could even look at the piano again. even now, i can barely bring myself to play the pieces / exercises from the two months of lesson. to repeat: the teacher was great, i just have some weird thing about taking lessons. this have happened several times over the past 5 - 6 years.
so far this year have gotten about 2 hours per day; 3+ on weekends. gw

MAY have to miss tomorrow -- Tuesday -- traveling out of town on business and won't get home until after 10pm.

So... if you get home around midnight instead and practise right then, does it count for this day or the next?

So... if you get home around midnight instead and practise right then, does it count for this day or the next? You know, when I see questions like this I think...oh, um...heck, I don't know....lol. So, after giving it a bit of thought, this is what I think: If I stay up til 12.15 today and then play the piano (with my headphones!)....it would count for playing today. Tomorrow, after my beauty sleep, I would play again. We're not looking for black and white don't cross the line rules here - we're looking for what makes sense towards keeping us on track. Cheers

MAY have to miss tomorrow -- Tuesday -- traveling out of town on business and won't get home until after 10pm. Turned out I was able to hop an earlier flight, hurry home, kiss the dog, walk the wife, and get in some good practice tonight. Still on track!

Back from my excused absence. My bench came today. I have already put in about an hour and a half today.

Well, take me off the pure list. I've missed several days here and there this month. Debating just dropping off but it's a little early to just quit so I'm going to keep trying. Things have been stressful lately, maybe things will mellow out soon and I'll get back into a routine.

Can you put me on the excused list for Sunday and Monday please? I had the flu/cold really bad. I'm improving now, thank god. On Tuesday I was just getting itchy to play. A good sign I'd say!
