What are the chances? Will the price go up too? When do new NAMM pianos typically become available after announcement?

My guess is that Yamaha will continue selling the CP33 without a direct successor in 2013 and maybe beyond. They already have the CP50. I'll even go out on the limb and say they modify/upgrade the CP50 before we see the end of CP33 sales. The CP33 is popular and is almost certain to be a high profit margin item given how long its been since the engineering and tooling costs to manufacture it have been absorbed into its production.

You're probably right, ron88, in that, 6 years into its product life cycle, they can still move the CP33 without slashing the price. And given that a lot of it came from the P120, R&D costs have likely long since be recouped. Others have hinted that there's still a significant amount of inventory in warehouses all over.

That being said, I'd love to see a USB-based downloadable firmware / software / sample update made available. I'm completely open to paying a nominal fee for new sounds. I certainly didn't pay a Nord-like premium price when I bought my 33, so I wouldn't expect them to be free.
