Why do I hate trolleys? well today I got the one with a sticky handle... yuk, had to go to the bathroom to wash my paws, then use a plastic bag wrapped round the handle for the rest of the shop. Today I’m going to post about other unfairly unknown composer. Vicente Martín y Soler was a musician from Valencia (Spain), who lived in the XVIII century. He composed several operas which got great successes at the biggest European theatres of that age. Even Lorenzo da Ponte, the famous librettist, worked for him.
Listening to his music, it’s difficult to understand why this composer has been forgotten.
Here we can listen to the overture of the opera called “Il burbero di buon cuore” (The Good-Hearted Curmudgeon).

Everyone posted at the same time!
This evening I've been at a harpsichord recital at Handel House, where Handel lived for almost three decades... and where Hendrix lived much later.
The programme included PC Foucquet (mind how you pronounce that!) - Le Carillon de Cythere J Duphly - La Forqueray C Balbestre - La Lugeac Scarlatti - K 132 and K 133 Mozart - variations on 'twinkle twinkle..' (you know the one) and finally a Mozart piece originally written for glass harmonica all expertly played by an incredibly young Nathaniel Mander.
Here's Claire Williams playing K 132 only a couple of hundred metres away:

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in awhile, but I've been enjoying reading everyone's posts and music selections while I'm supposed to be working.
I heard this song on the way to work today. It became a big hit for an unknown singer when it was featured in an episode of "So You Think you can Dance." I just love the delicious sadness of it.

Oops - sorry - must have missed that one! It's so hard trying to do a proper job here when that bloody paid work thing keeps getting in the way of my hobbies!! Every time someone passes my office, I have to flip back to the work screen so no one sees me slacking....

If your at work and worried about getting caught, I think you are meant to have a seperate tab open on a porn site. I may be wrong, but i think they expect you to be watching porn at work and make allowences for it. So, just flick from piano world to porn and you should be okay.

Well as everyone is in sad song mode, here is a cracking little number originally done by MTH, here is Ian Hunter and the late Micky Ronson . with "I wish I was your mother" Micky here on some sort of mandolin rather than his usual blue gibson, showing just what a multi faceted talented guy he was.

Good morning everyone. Great posts yesterday! It's going to be another busy day for me. However, I have a post today that stirs a range of feelings (mostly good) for me. I've been listening to several recordings of the Soweto Gospel Choir.
"Swing Down" is an old African American spiritual which I loved and sang in high school as part a quartet I was in. When I first heard the Soweto Choir sing it I was choked up with emotions of joy and pride in their performance. They seamlessly blended the African American style with a distinctively South African style, thereby taking it to a whole new level. it felt like Swing Down had gone from it's home in America to it's roots in Africa!
