Hi Everybody! Thanks for the encouragement about tonight! I wasn't able to arrange for a recording this evening. However, I did get an acquaintance to videotape me performing the piece onstage at the grand piano in the theater a few weeks ago. I have not seen it yet because he is out of town doing singing performances.

He's promised to get me a copy as soon as he returns. I'm hoping to get that on You Tube as soon as this happens. Rossy, I may need a little help from you on how to set that up. I am a total novice with all of this new fangled stuff. This is one of those moments when my 35-year absence from piano and making music really shows up!

There is one downside to the video, however. Because of the way the camera was positioned, you won't be able to see my hands on the keyboard. At this point, I'll take what I can get. I don't have any of this equipment myself, and this guy was nice enough to help me out at no charge.

There is a possibility of a second chance of getting a a performance later this month at the theater. I have been asked to perform the piece at the annual meeting of a neighborhood organization in the same theater. I have agreed to do this. It is my hope that I'll be able to arrange a live taping of that performance.

Right now, however, I'm just trying to relax, get warmed up for tonight, and focus on my solo.

Richard, I am sure I will have plenty to write about after the performance tonight.

Piano Joy, I'll probably want that margerita after the performance regardless of how things turn out! I'll probably even play Kool and the Gang just to celebrate getting through it. I'll not subject you to that -- this time! laugh

It's about 6 hours to performance time! Excuse me while I do some gentle stretches and relaxation routines. I will check in again before I head to the theater!

laugh LOVED IT! I posted before I saw this and Rossy's story. Perfect! I forgot to include some laughs with part of my preparations for tonight. This takes care of that! That's one of the many reasons why I continue hanging out at RST! Thanks folks!

Okay Rossy, this counts as my second good laugh. A good laugh is about all I can do if the Ginger hair kid breaks wind, and vomits during my performance! laugh

Best of luck to you, Griffin2417! I'm sure you'll do well and your sense of humor should certainly help smooth out any distractions such as the little fat ginger boy, although I'm not sure of the meaning of "ginger".

Sandy This is ginger, it refers to the colour of hair..
In the UK it is historically seen as not desirable probably because we never got over the viking longboats full of vikings with red hair....

I am pleased to report that the ginger kid never showed up during my performance, and I am pretty happy with how things went tonight! There were a few problem areas, however, I am satisfied with how I had anticipated them and managed through them without throwing off the entire performance. I felt I accomplished what I wanted.

What I didn't discuss earlier today is that the event was somewhat of a milestone at the theater. I was the very first classical pianist to perform at their monthly open mic sessions. The predominant number of young community artists perform rap music at these sessions! So this was kind of a big deal for me to see if there would be any receptiveness to classical piano music with this audience. I got a standing ovation! I am overwhelmed.

There is a lot of background about what led to this performance. However, I'm exhausted, and will have to save it to write later. Many thanks for all of the good wishes I've received here. It meant a lot to me going into tonight's performance.

Off to bed for me! Good night!

Excellent Griffin, well done, and if just one kid starts asking you questions...result.
PPP, OK, I forgot about Amy Pond, and shirley manson, but they are exceptions to the general "rule" lol.

Griffin, I'm delighted everything went well. Here's another Ovation for you, this time of the six-stringed variety, played by Joan Armatrading.

Chill!

In honour of Griffen's success, the King would like to sing a song to commemorate the event:
