Hello everyone,

I am looking for a list of the 'Great Books' of Music in canon, beyond the sheet music themselves. Great Books would be works of substantial value to the canon and can be about theory, history, music criticism, aesthetics, and letters or notebooks of the composers/artists, and more.

Some examples of these may be:

Hector Berlioz - Treatise on Instrumentation:

Johann Joseph Fux - Gradus ad Parnassum

Tchaikovsky - Guide to the Practical Study of Harmony

I hope there are some ideas floating out there as I would truly appreciate any input. Thank you very much.
