If you're interested in Bach and Glenn Gould then I highly recommend the following collection

http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Bach-Coll...d+complete+bach

I have most if not all of these somewhere in my collection, but this has all the bbc broadcasts in one set. 6 DVDs and 38 CDs. This is a must have for the Gould enthusiast.

I bought the DVD set of his Canadian Radio broadcasts last year - they're entertaining and occasionally provocative. But I don't think I could listen to his Mozart and some other composers' music for long - frequently he seems to delight in showing us his contempt of their music......

... particularly his one video of the first movement of the Mozart A major, (KV331) where - perversely and surely with no other intent than to provoke - he plays each variation faster than the one before, despite the indications in the score.

From the Canadian Press, 8 January, 2013 :

"Glenn Gould will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Grammys [...] at the Special Merit Awards [...] in Los Angeles on Feb. 9"

Regards,

I appreciate everything he did even if I don't necessarily see it the same way. It's sort of like politics. Yet here we are 40 to 60 years later still listening to him and trying to sort it all out. He was so much more than just a pianist.

One of my favorites.

I've just been listening to his recording of Well-Tempered Clavier Prelude 12 BWV857. I'm totally freaked out. What a gorgeous piece and his murmurs heard behind the playing is haunting and beautiful.
