so thank you all for your time that was spent talking about the pros and cons of various boards...it really helps to be a fly on the wall for the many conversations that have taken place on this forum regarding gear I am interested in.
In a perfect world -where gold equity stocks haven't tanks the past 7 months- I would be be playing the Roland Fp7F, ruining the faux ivory with my long finger nails and ruining my back lugging it around...but loving the action; however, I waited out the Yamaha P105 introduction and finally committed to the purchase today. I tried all the other boards from Yamaha p155 down, in all the different companies and decided I have nothing to lose buying the p105 (with upgraded pedal of course)-- that's a lot of piano for less than the price of my cheapest guitar.
I have been playing a 61 key yamaha spring action key for a year and a half (and spent lots of time at my sisters playing her Roland fp4, which I totally love) so it was time to commit to real piano action. I am fine with the substandard GH action because I suffer from carpal tunnel/tendonitis and the easier action is better for my hands; I also love the Eps and Organ more than the Fp4. I could go on and on about why it works for me but I will do it in the appropriate threads.
Anyways, a huge thank you to the members that spend the time to post their experiences with various keyboard: I honestly couldn't of made this purchase without your input. I am sure I will upgrade in the future - once gold is back to $1900+ and Barrick/Gold Corp aren't getting killed - so a Kawai Mp10 or FP7F is still in my future (maybe even a nx700 if gold goes to where I think it will be).
I amp kinda proud of the fact I learned to play on a piece of carp keyboard but man does the new one make me play/sound better. Back to playing!!!!!
Edit: was playing in my sleep so I got up and played from 2:30 until 5:00. Definitely very happy with purchase.

Grats on the piano! Enjoy!
I would agree 100% that everyone here is amazingly helpful and not condescending at all... Cheers to everyone!

Sounds like ya bought wisely. It has a good engine, and you can get the 3 pedal unit which makes it look real good. Easy to carry. . . . Enjoy!

JG - I've only had mine for a month, but I'm loving it (I am a real Newbie.) I have a DAW that I've been recording to and then using the same midi engine for add more voices. I almost bought a Casio 350 when Guitar Center had a $150 coupon, but for me the p105 just seemed to fit. Good luck with yours and if you have time put it through a good sound system, it really sounds fine (esp. piano 1).

Enjoy the P105! It's really hard to beat at that price point - decent sounds, light keys, very portable, and has OK speakers.

Good luck with yours and if you have time put it through a good sound system, it really sounds fine (esp. piano 1). I spend most of time playing along to other my favorite songs with ipod earbuds in and the dp's headphones over top. The deciding factor for me was how great the p105 sat in the mix: though it has limited sounds, they just seem to work really well for my application...and the combining of piano and eps is just perfect for my needs.
