@Rossy -- I confess. I did NOT go back through 252 pages before I posted. [hangs head in shame and sniffles a little]. I'll try to be more vigilant next time!

@Rupak -- I'm sorry! How embarrasing. It's probably your original post that got me hooked on Animusic to begin with!

@Griffin -- Thank you! I had not seen that one.

@Everyone -- I've been enjoying all the music you all have selected. Thank you!

Greetings, all.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Liszt, Griffin. Faced with music such as the B minor sonata, where there's no melody to whistle while you're doing the washing up, some hand holding really helps. I always appreciate it when there's more going on than can be discerned from a superficial hearing, even in simple songs.
Your Sunday selection was great, especially the magical Ubi Caritas. Perfect at the end of the day.

The Hendrix tribute was...an experience! smile Thanks, Eglantine. -- Watch your fingers!

PPP, I really enjoyed the Chinese zither. I don't hear much of her music here in Ireland. Radio over here is peppered with advertising and I can't listen to that. I was blessed in the UK with the BBC. The song title reminded me of this.

Hi, all! Thanks for all the music yesterday & today.
I have one to share, but, first, a disclaimer.
I have no idea if this has already been posted. If it has, I apologize profusely and give much credit to poster #1. In addition, I am willing to accept whatever punishment is doled out for committing this heinous double, or perhaps, triple-posting, by the administrator of this thread.
I know I saw this somewhere before, but still find it fascinating and sure wish I could play like this guy!

*Oh, and if you do nothing else, please watch the last 20 seconds of this video, so cool!

Rossy, I loved the Grieg...

Griffin, what a jolly piece from Morley! It made me feel that spring has sprung (though it's pouring with rain here).

Here's another little early music piece. I'd until now only encountered Frescobaldi (1583-1643) in the context of keyboard, but here's a great little brass arrangement of one of his toccatas.

You could almost imagine it being played at a miners' gala in the north of England (where they are big on brass bands).

I love this video. It has so much spirit and is as fun to watch as it is to listen to. I have certainly not seen it before. Wonderful.

Speaking of film scores . . .

Pianojoy,, the "theramin" is not "played" as such, it works by Magik, If you became an initiate of the Hermetic order of the Golden Dawn, you too could learn the secrets of its powers..

The Theramin, not to be taken on aircraft, used for childrens bedtime stories, or attempting to play under water.

I love the sound of a theramin (wish they'd named it something else -- it conjours up a vitamin or flu drink) but all the pictures I ever see of someone actually playing it are black and white and kind of grainy which I think adds to the eeriness.

Ray Lamontagne does not play the theramin to my knowledge but his wonderful voice has a similar and haunting range.

Another evening at Handel House... to hear the amazingly young Tom Foster play a raft of English virginalists, finishing off with an astounding rendition of Orlando Gibbons' Woods So Wild. Wow!

Tonight I am on the hunt for the best recording of Purcell's Fairy Queen... English, historically informed...

Guys, guys, his name was Ther-e-min.

I'm surprised the Theremin wasn't outlawed in the US as a commie plot, given the associations with Lenin.

Please, Eglantine! Of course, it is allowed here, as long as one is willing to undergo thorough FBI and CIA background checks and ancestry is traced back at least 100 years. Political affiliations and beliefs must be stated, and then, voila! home free!

Don't be ridiculous! wink

Morning all!

I'm almost certain that my facial expressions while playing *far* exceed anything displayed by the wonderful Beatrice Martin in this Chaconne by Purcell. I shall therefore *never* be video-ing my face in any recording.
