Hello Piano Folks! I am trying to value my 6 year old Kawai GM12 that sadly has had very little use. It's recently tuned and my pianist friend says the tone is excellent. I've read various things about depreciation but want some input from you guys. I'm curious if anyone has a good idea of what a GM12 is selling for new as I've read one valuation approach is to price it at approx 70% of the new price. Thoughts?

Larry Fine's "Piano Buyer" lists the manufacturer's retail price for a new Kawai GM-12 for $18,495. The "street price" starts at $15,790 and is a starting point for negotiations to obtain a lower price. This is for an ebony finish model

You can find a free, online version of this guide by using the link on the left side of this page. There is useful info on piano depreciation for cost analysis.

Wow just found this thread. So a 2006 mohagany gm12 for $8500 on Craigslist sounds like a decent price?
