I understand Neumann Bros manufactured pianos from 1890 to 1925.
I was given a good condition, recently tuned Grand and the sound is superb.
I am wondering what these are worth ofcourse, but probably more important as to where they rank among the best or worst. I consider this must be one of the best not because it's a grand, but because it lasted so long, sounds so good, and appears to be very well built. The finish is a dark stain and you can see the 10 year warranty (haha) ;with a scratch, and there is wear around the corners some, but all keys are intact and look good except they appear to be covered wood with a thin layer of ivory or something else? They didn't have plastic in 1920 did they?

I'd like to refinish this piano after a complete sanding to the wood, using a cherry like stain and then some clear to add shine. Any suggestions on this, and anything I should do to care for wood and metal inside?
thanks : )

I would suggest that you call a good technician to tune and tell you about this piano before you launch into any projects on it. If there is something dreadfully wrong with it, you would want to know before spending a lot of money and effort on it. That is not information that you can get over the internet.

Piano finish work is significantly expensive. I'd suggest you make sure the piano is worth it first. A technician and give you this information.

If you're planning to do it yourself... well, I don't recommend this course of action.
