This custom search works much better than the built in one and allows searching older posts.

In the mid to late 1980's these were both student level quality pianos at best. I would recommend having a piano technician examine both instruments before jumping on board.
Has the store done any reconditioning work that you know of?

In the middle ages there was a custom of offering those convicted of capital crimes the choice between quartering and burning at the stake. The choice between different Samicks from the 80s strikes me as not wholly dissimilar.

See if you can find some used Yamaha U series uprights. Their reputation is quite good and they shouldn't be too hard to find. Just be sure to have it checked out to ensure that it wasn't used in a practice room or something.
