I could equally post this on the Wooden Piano forum . . .
Now then. Your capabilities require something other than a cheap-o digital. But your Bank Account enables the acquisition of that long sought after must have can`t live without it good looking piece of MDF and electronic circuitry that will simply not take "No!" for an answer.

So you defy the Comptroller of the Family Houseold, act like a Man, (albeit Neanderthal)and you darned well buy it!

YES! Yes! It is an Organic (orgasmic) product, and you spend hours improving your stock, because you have the impetus to do so.

And then . . . .Along came Joe. Slow walkin` Joe. With news that your favoured DP manufacturer had brought out a new model. And it was better. MUCH better . . . .NOT news that was good.

And the music? What about the music?

I have absolutely no idea what your post is about.

Your post totally makes sense to me:
1. The need to have something better than the mid-range priced item.
2. The obsession with the new item can become a higher priority than the music itself.
3 You get the item only to find out it was upgraded.

I went with slabs because they were cheap and portable and (so I thought) shippable.
In my twenties spent $750 on a Fatar, $700 on a Korg SG Rack a year later and now find myself reluctant in my 40's to spend that much.
In a screwed up way I learned I played much more aggresively on my P95 because it was expensive and on the flip side probably created different music than I would on a $3,000 board.

No matter how little or how much money you have, the pastime of acquiring things is easier than doing anything with the things you acquire.

Closely behind acquiring things is talking about what you had, have and want.

Also in the race, is lying to yourself about what you did, do and are going to do with the stuff acquired.

One of my rules (i try to follow at least) is: No matter how long the process of finding and aquiring new gear is, never look back after you bought it. Don't look at the price as it's slowly aproaching zero right after you bought it or the new device that not only obliterates yours, but costs the same and came out a day after your purchase.

Its hard, especially as many poeple here are building up GAS as NAMM is coming, but the piano you bought and love doesn't stop working the day a better version comes out. Too many poeple waste their time buying stuff instead of using it. Or to quote peterws: But where is the music?

And now im crossing fingers that Kawai doesn't release a cn35 anytime soon :-)

It's not the bow, but the bower who hits home.
