I understand I can check ebay or whatever, but the prices are so spread out I can't figure out a good price.

Basically, I'm not playing my Yamaha P155 as much as I would like, so I thought it might be a good idea to downgrade while getting some extra cash.

It was purchased less than a year ago and is still in fantastic condition, no dust stains, dents, heavy scraps and everything works like new. All the parts which came with it are also in perfect condition.

It also comes with the matching stand.

So, does anyone have any quotes they can direct to me? I believe I bought it with the stand for $1100 with shipping and all that.

I'm not asking anyone here to buy it, as I'm sure its against the rules (I think) I'm just asking for prices since I'm often busy and can't do much research.

Thanks <3

I think you can pretty easily get $600 or $700 for it on the used market. Actually, if you live in a big city with a thick Craigslist market you might be able to do better than that.

On the prices paid thread, there are recent listing of sales. Over the past year, the prices for a new P155 ranged from $785 to $900. A used P155 will probably have to sell for less.

Thanks guys smile

Would having the matching stand raise the price at all? I believe it goes for around $75-100 retail.

You might want to do this quickly, as there may be a replacement for the P155 announced at NAMM later this week, which, if it comes to pass, lowers your potential selling price.

It depends on your area. I would think 30% less than what you paid is a fair starting point. State current selling price (or what you paid) and then the discount you are giving. I bought my P155 used last year and it was $700 without the stand). I'm guessing I could sell is close to that now with the furniture stand i bought if I was going to sell it again. It's a good dp.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, I listed it for $700 with the stand and free shipping (I know thats going to cost a lot, but in my experience it gives people more incentive to bid)

I appreciate all your help <3

I just have one more question. I still have time on the warranty. Is it transferable? I never actually sold something with an active warranty before, so I just want to be sure.

This may depend on the instrument. Some manufacturers allow transferable warranty on their products, others do not. I would recommend contact Yamaha's customer support for clarification.

Kind regards,
James

Sounds like this could be a bad idea. Considering the money hit you will take, how far down are you willing to go downgrade so you have "some extra cash"?? In the end that downgrade keyboard will have cost you far more than it is worth. Sometimes it is better to keep the better item when your plans do not include giving up the pastime completely. What you would be left with would be inferior and the level of pleasure could be compromised. Is the cash needed that much? (just a thought....not asking you to answer this question in a forum.)
