I think that I've made such a big deal out of this collection of movements (rather a single work I'd say), that I think that I owe all of you as much as possible...

So...

Here's a thread about all of this, videos, etc...

__________________________________

Piano Stories For Piano, 4 hands

This is a collection of seven movements, in intermediate to difficult level. It's a collection that has been composed during the past 12-13 years actually. Some of the works go back to the last 90s, while others were composed in late 2012...

For example No.2 and No.3 are the earliest to be composed in one way or another. In fact No.2 was used in a theatrical play back in 2001-2002 and No.3 in a computer game in 2005. Then No.4 was composed around December of 2005 and everything else is very recent.

Thus far I've managed to create 3 videos from 3 of the movements, with us playing live (me and Myrto Akrivou), so... that's all I can offer now.

Nikolas Sideris - Piano Stories / 2. A rather innocent Incubus

Nikolas Sideris - Piano Stories / 3. How to live in an underground home

Nikolas Sideris - Piano Stories / 5. Gaining light momentum

I hope you don't mind me being so thrilled about this. I think that this is by far the most catchy tunes I've ever composed in the general aesthetics of 'classical music'.

Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Nikolas, I very much enjoyed all three of them. I favor No. 2 the best, followed by No. 3. Thanks for posting these!

Thanks Chris,

Glad you liked them... It's funny that just today a number of threads about music for 2 pianists came up (as music for two pianos, rather than duets, but still)...

I enjoyed them all immensely.

Nos. 3 and 5 were very humorous. No.2 reminded me a little of the Waltz from Ravel's Ma Mere L'oye. I also enjoyed the split screen video from both ends of the keyboard in No.3.

YAY then! I'd dare to think that the rest of the works will also prove very enjoyable... Though in a different style. No.1 is funny, No.4 is romantic, No.6 is outright aggressive and No.7 is peculiar, weird and jazzy.

These are quite delightful--is it possible to purchase the sheet music? I'm starting some students into the world of 4 hand music, and am always looking for great pieces.

Thracozaag: Thank you, and but of course you can buy the sheet music!!!

Here's a couple of links:

http://www.musica-ferrum.com/catalog/viewitem.php?show=47 for a single copy
and
http://www.musica-ferrum.com/catalog/viewitem.php?show=48 for a bundle of two copies, the second copy being 66% off.

I figured that since it's a duet, people will be needing two copies. So instead of buying one copy and photocopying the other, I'm giving the second copy for a very low price (cheaper than photocopying and binding actually, at least in Greece)...

Shipping fees would be around 6$ for a single copy and 8$ for two copies...

Shipping times vary, but I'd say a week + something...

Finally, because I've not been able to get round and making more videos, following the link bellow will get you to the CDBaby page. There you can preview all seven works for 30s or so... Should be enough to give you an idea I hope.

Again thanks!

Hi all,

I've uploaded yet another video, from No. 6.

Technically this is the most difficult of the set. And for those who read a previous thread, this is where the middle section reminded me a lot like a Ligeti etude...

evory:

Thanks. didn't notice your post earier.

Reason I noticed it, was that I was notified that the recording is available in CDbaby at 4.99$ and in amazon.com and itunes.com at 6.93$ at the moment, but with the possibility of buying individual tracks.

I won't link anything, cause I don't think I'm allowed to, but a simple search should get anyone there... smile

Finally a playlist with all five (out of seven) movements readily available in youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsdvCIwmJLQ&list=PLEBuE5OWhpWK6VdF9hNqiIGxZBi78_7ar

Hi Nikolas, I only listened to the "Rather innocent Incubus" so far, but really, really enjoyed it. It's a very inspired work I think, and btw also very charmingly played by you and your duo partner.

I hope these new pieces will get the attention that they deserve! Looking forward to listening to the other pieces now...

pianovirus: I hope so as well...

(BTW, I tried using iTunes and failed eventually... iTunes did NOT like both my American Express and my VISA...). So I can't offer a review of my own work(s)! bleh...

Thanks...

I should note that some of these tunes (especially No.2 and No.3) go WAY back to the late 90s for me... Or early 00s... I think that this is by far my longest composing progress to date! laugh Not that I've been composing on this non stop of course! :P
