Well,,, I think that we may be looking for more original sounding ideas here.
Maybe I should post some more modern style music.
Your never sure if any one likes your musical ideas though.

Out of reverence to my Scottish blood, and the skirl of the bagpipes ...
I’ve listened closely to your keyboard composition “I Do”
intended for a wedding in Scotland.

“I Do” has a repetitious rhythmic flow prompted by an upward arpeggiated spur ...
Henry Mancini used this device for his compositions including the hit “Moon River”.

However, the single-note format in both hands can wear a little thin, where only at measures
17 and 18 is there the inclusion of the beginnings of a chord ... your simple ode brought back reminders of my favourite poet Robert Burns ... when he so benignly said “To a Mouse”

“Wee, sleekit, cowran, tim'rous beastie,
O, what a panic's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi' bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee,
Wi' murd'ring pattle!”

Perhaps you should strive to become a little bolder.

btb...I can't believe what I'm hearing from you; I think this is *fantastic*. I mean...um...do Bach's works wear a little thin for you? I don't mean to be facetious just...this is beautiful! Firefinch...you should be proud of yourself, even if only on my behalf; if I had half your talent I'd hope to be a tad more secure that others would merely like the results...I quite love all of your Songs Without Words, actually...so...there!

We all know that btb expressed the negative side of life/music most of the time. I'd recommend to Firefinch to not take him seriously (or actually to ignore anything he says actually). I know that I do, even if I've not used the ignore button.

as for the work, I also found it quite pleasing and I posted my thoughts in the composers forum...

But, please, don't post all over the place. It's confusing to follow what's going on...

It's all Greek to me ... but then the poor chappies in Athens are out of work ... and are feeling
"the negative side of life most of the time".

If only the Greeks had leant to play cricket ... and play with a "straight bat" like decent cultured chaps do.

I won't report anything, but I may break down some things for you:

1. Do you have any idea how many suicides we've had, here in Greece, over the past 3-4 years?!?!?
2. Do you have any idea how many young people, including my wife, had to leave the country in order to find a job??!?!
3. Do you have any idea how much effort one has to put in order to stay positive and not jump out of the window?

So you can very well take your post and do as you please with it.

But don't you dare talk to me about Athens, Greece or anything else.

With a Greek son-in-law and 3 Greek grandchildren going to a hellishly expensive
Greek School (they’re trying to teach me how to speak Greek) ... not to mention that
as an architect with a passion for the Golden Age of Greece ... am able to dream of
physically walking in wonder through the Parthenon ... have got the 8 columned
masterpiece plan in my head (did you know that 17 columns flank the sides?)

My sincere apologies for my truculent response about the sad state of present Greece
and all the financial pressures ... being ignorant of undercurrents my heavy-booted reaction
is unforgivable ... once more my apologies .

Meanwhile, back at the ranch and the composition “I Do” by Firefinch ...
having listened to the rendition by the OP and later played the first 20 measures
on my Grotrian Steinweg (the slick Allegretto pace needs working on) ...
my original summation stands ... try to fatten out the composition structure
with more use of bold chords.

By the way, the above is the Scots for ‘It’s a beautiful moonlit night’
and comes from a song by Sir Harry Lauder called “Wee Deoch an Doris”
and comes from the Scottish Gaelic expression “deoch an dorais”
- lit. “drink of the door”, which means “one for the road” or “parting glass”.

Hey there, firefinch-- I've been seeing your compositions around a lot, and I think you're great!

In this one particularly, I like the sound of it in general, but towards the middle of it, I find that it gets slightly monotonous for my taste. However, I can imagine that it will be a big hit with certain people, and I can understand that it's for a wedding.
