Hello everyone!

Im looking at purchasing a used grand piano. My budget is 15,000 CDN. Ideally I'm looking at the RX1 RX2, C2, C3 models. Petrof would be a contender as well, however with my budget I think I'll be reaching. I would like something in the 6' range but not sure if I can afford it with my budget. Im leaning towards the Kawai. I prefer the tone of this piano over the Yamaha, however, find that they run a bit higher in price.

My question is Ive read a lot of posts on the pricing of these piano's and I see people paying around 10 grand sometimes less for these models yet when I visit my local piano stores they are selling for around 20-24k. Then there are models for example a Kawai RX2 rebuilt from the 80's-90's priced at 16k is this the going rate?

Please help any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Which city are you from? Its fairly easy to find pre owned C2,C3, RX1, RX2 in good condition in Toronto..
Many dealers carry them (Preowned). I just came back from the Kawai dealer their price seem to be pretty decent.

Have you consider a high quality upright? I am looking at the same price range but for an upright for the space reason.

And I do prefer few uprights over RX2 and C3.

my favourite grand at $20k-ish range is the Vogel v180 by Schimmel, Robert Lowrey is the dealer I think they currently have a red one on sale.
all the major parts are Schimmel and assembled in their Poland factory.(Renner Action, Schimmel Soundboard, Abel hammer etc)

I tried the Perzina, I really liked that one was priced at 7k not much info on build quality though. I know it did rate not so bad in Larry Fines ratings. At this point I have just been playing on them haven't started talking price thats why I'm here to get an idea of what some price ranges are.
