A good day for some drama-queen Schubert:

If one is fan of this piece or of Schubert I wonder why one would use such a phrase(frequently used with negative connotations) to describe this piece. The first time I heard the opening of this work I thought it was one of the most amazing of any piece I had heard...pure genius.

He had a rough life and only lived 31 years. I feel bad every time I read about him, but then I rejoice by listening to his great creations.

Nice to know you're on a first name basis with Franz and Wolfie. Sounds awfully silly IMO.

No argument there, though I did get through the day without encountering Der Hirt auf dem Felsen. I realize some folks adore it, but I've always found it a bit too precious, not to mention rather tedious. (IMO of course. In Heaven I'm sure it is in constant rotation.)

At any rate, Schubert was upstaged today by Seattle Symphony's incredible performance of Messiaen's thrilling Turangalila.

Not nearly as silly as you spending all your time sniping at others' posts, just to say how silly they are. It's all getting rather tedious, and awfully silly. Try saying something less silly and more constructive for a change, eh? wink

OK, now back to Franz.....

Apparently it doesn't take a very deep hole to catch a troll. How could there be a more conventional thread than a Franz Schubert birthday thread?

I had to look it up - I am not much into Internet slang. ha
Apparently it means "boring" or "stupid". Definitely inappropriate referring to Schubert!

Nope, that's not it. The word was used as a purposely-misspelled version of "gay". The alternate spelling (at least in some forums) is used to try to bypass software that checks for certain words.

Anyway, thanks to the OP for reminding us of Schubert's birthday. Would that he had lived another thirty years.

But it doesn't seem to be a censored word here because you just typed it... Whatever that person meant as a first post it revealed a lot of could have happened if he had stayed.... crazy

And his/her user name might have been another tip-off.
