Has anyone flown with one of these boards and checked them as baggage?

If so, what type of flight case did you use for them, and did you you have any problems?

Thanks!

All the time. I'm using this case from Gator:

I've never had an issue.

Thanks, Mike. Do you typically have to pay a baggage fee to check that? If so, approximately what is a normal charge?

It depends on the airline. The weight isn't the issue, its the size. I've paid $0 but usually it is $100. I'll be flying with it again on Monday so I'll let you know what happens this time.

Mike, how did your flight go -- any trouble checking, and what did it cost? Which airline?

Also, what do you do about a keyboard stand when you travel -- if you take one, what type? Is there a way to fit that into the keyboard case -- or do you check one separately -- or do without?

Thanks so much for your insights.

No issues this week. Three flights. United $100. Southwest $50 each.

No I haven't traveled with a keyboard stand. Sorry I don't have advice on how to handle that one.

Some stands fold up into something pretty thin. If the case has enough height inside it, I could imagine possibly laying a stand inside the case, flat, underneath the piano itself, inside some kind of padded bag. Something like an On-Stage KS7150 for example. It has a folded dimension of just 12.625" x 29" x 3.5". The issue would be having that 3.5" of height to spare inside the case. Unfortunately, cases that are over-sized in that direction will probably be over-sized in depth as well, so unless you get something custom built, it may be unnecessarily large for the Casio. For example, one possibility could be the SKB ATA 88 Note Large Keyboard Case 1SKB-6118W but is a lot deeper than you would need. But maybe you could find other use for that space as well.

If you want to isolate the keyboard from the metal stand, you'd need even more extra space inside the keyboard case.
