Then, welcome to the club. Of course you must know that violinists only have 4 fingers on each hand. Regrettable I know, but you should still be able to play the piano, I manage somehow.

I just purchased a new case for my violin online, I am waiting eagerly for it to arrive:

While we wait, I think we should all watch this:

Here is a true classical master Wayne, Itzhak perlman, jamming with four different klezmer groups....astounding.

Hmmm. Never thought of Shiloh Pitt that way. I promise I'll never hear it the same again, that's for sure.

Congrats on the violin! I wanted to learn when I was in the 6th grade, as some of my friends were. Free lessons were being offered through school. I asked my mom, and she said no, because she didn't want to listen to me practice. The first performance came up at a PTA meeting or something, and it was squeaky and out of tune. Mom says to me, "See? I didn't want you to sound like THAT." And she was absolutely right.

I liked this.

I was watching Dancing with the Stars last night, and one of the contestants said that this was a song by No Doubt. While their cover is a good one, it's not theirs. So I needed to hear it correctly.

Hi Aimee. Nice to see you! I remember your question about the Three Kings. I have to say they only bring the things that you have asked for, if you have been good enough. For this reason, maybe it’s better to be prudent when you are writing the letter. But I’m sure they will bring you and Griffin everything you want.

Sorry to hear your violin story. But look at the positive side: you still keep your five fingers!

I cannot avoid to post about Salzburg 2006 again. I hadn’t heard the opera “Scipio's Dream” before, and listening to this version was a delicious surprise . The stage production is a little shocking, since it does a parallelism between the roman gods and the women’s seduction. Salzburg is so.

But the music is fascinating. Here we can enjoy a master class of coloratura by Louise Fribo.

I like that, Recaredo!

Here's something different.
So, when I was younger, I was a big Tori Amos fan. Still am, but her last few albums bored me. Well, I decided to check out her new one that came out because it was based on classical music. I just got it in and haven't had time to listen to it, but I was reading the liner notes. Apparently all songs on the album are variations on classical pieces, so this could be a fun learning adventure(I hope!). Her inspirations were Alkan, Granados, Satie, Chopin, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bach, Mussorgsky, Scarlatti, and Debussy.

Here's Tori's Seven Sisters and Gould playing Bach's prelude in C Minor. I wish I didn't have a class tonight!

Well Wayne gets his new violin tommorrow, excellent.
Today though I have been pondering.
At first when I woke up , I didn't ponder anything, but as soon as I had my coffee, the pondering started.
What I pondered was this; what video camcorder to buy?

I got around £200, but the one that I realy like on ebay, of which there are a few cost around £400, should I get a cheaper secondhand one or save up some more?
Saving up more is dangerous for me, as I am very bad with money, I may spend what I have in the meantime.

This is quite ponderous.

I also pondered that no one had posted golden brown by the stranglers, so I thought it best to post it...
enjoy.

Evening all smile I've been watching some of the vids on streetpianos.com, the Tilburg Sept (2011) tonight, I like watching these, and looking at the art work on the pianos.

Rossy, I think I'd get the 2nd hand one, if you don't like, just re-sell! Meanwhile, keep saving.

Yep, picking up the violin 2moz, looking forward to it, i'm sure it needs new strings, just by looking, but there cheap as chips, (unless there's somethin I need to know about better strings, I haven't looked into this yet)

Yes Wayne, one of the best investments you can do for your violin is to get four fine tune adjusters for the other ends of the strings to the neck.
They are really cheap last time i bought four they were less than two quid each.

These allow you to fine tune the violin without struggling at the neck end with stiff pegs!

also there are little tiny tubes of what look like plastic for the top strings, you slide these down the strings and make sure they sit on top of the bridge, this stops the very thin and high tension top strings cutting into the bridge.

was there rosin for the bow, its usually found in the top of the case under a little flap..

So whats a good secondhand video camcorder then wayne?

Requirements, optical zoom ( as much as) image stabiliser, a nightime mode (green screen)

and a really good picture quality, and download to laptop, and black. maybe would consider red , but like most items to be black.

Good evening folks! It's another busy work day, and my piano lesson is in a few hours! I have just a little time to do some warming up before I meet with my teacher.

I won't have any time to post, but just wanted to check in and say hi. I'll have more time this weekend to post.

Enjoy your new violin Wayne. Rossy, good luck on your search for a camcorder. I suspect I'll be buying one in a year or more. Right now I have enough work to do rebuilding my piano repertoire.

I am excited about the new(to you) violin!
Rossy, I would save up for the one you want. I don 't know anything about camcorders, but I do know that every time I buy the cheaper version of anything I regret it.

Griffin, how did it go? Are you where you feel you should be? I'm afraid that if I stopped lessons right now I would get lazy and create all sorts of bad habits and misread things.

Here's some Devo:

Hi my friends!

Fortunately, the hot weather has ended up over here. This September has been horribly hot.

This reminds me of an old song called “Escuela de calor” (Hot school?), which was very popular in the 80s.
