Hi everyone, I'm new here and in the market for a digital piano. I have one week to decide which one to pick: $2000 for a Kawai CP185 with beaten up cabinet and $3100 for mint Yamaha CVP900. Both have pretty minimal sign of playing. Please help me to make decision.
Thanks in advance.

I'd say both are nice but the prices too high. Why not offer them 2000 for the yamaha if you are looking for something in Grand Piano form. Or maybe look at something new - there is a lot you can get in 2000-3000 range from both Yamaha and Kawai. If I had the budget I would be looking at the CA-65

Keep in mind the AHA3 keys on the Kawai are plastic -same as the ES6 and CL20. The Yamaha has the wooden keys "Natural Keyboard"

As much as I love Kawai, I think I would go with the Yamaha on this one.

Both look like a lot fun to play, good luck!

Thank you mitzysman and Marko !
I used to own a cvp-55 but got rid of if before moving to a new house with roomy family room, so I'm thinking of having a baby grand for it. I have missed few chances to get a cvp 309gp for around $3k. In my area it's quite hard to find a used baby grand DP of these two brands. My concern of the Kawai is the scratches and dents, mainly on top of the lift-board, way beyond my touch up skill. Other than that it plays well and seems not much not much playing time on it. The cvp900 look and play like new but like mitzysman mentioned, the price is bit higher than I think it should be.
And thanks again for your suggestions and advices! They really help me to make up my mind.

Royce, the Kawai is several generations old. While it does offer a large number of features, the core piano sounds and keyboard action are a little dated compared to the latest generation instruments.

As others have suggested, my recommendation would be to skip this second-hand instrument in favour of a new model.

Kind regards,
James
