I'm looking for a dirt-simple, free (or very cheap) MIDI recorder/ editor/ sequencer. No virtual instruments, no library of drum tracks, no "DAW" features. Just:

. . . record MIDI;
. . . edit MIDI (_all_ MIDI messages!)
. . . Loop / combine MIDI
. . . play MIDI through external device.

SEQ24 is one possibility -- I'm learning it slowly.

Any other ideas?

Thanks --

. Charles

Just for the record, a 5-year-old (but still useful) review of the class:

Google really _is_ your friend, if you ask the right question _exactly_.

You may want to quickly read my post which I made in order to help to give orientation to other beginners in their first attempts to work with MIDI, after I myself have had to do a long search for finding proper tools.
The mentioned tools should cover all you are asking for. I do not know SEQ24.
Let us know what finally was your choice!

Marco -

Thank you!

I never heard of Sekaiju, but I will check it out.

I cannot see how to edit "controller events" in SEQ24. So it will not work for me.

I have installed "REAPER" -- very complex software! But it will do everything I need, and I only need to learn a small piece of it.

Thank you for the post, and the pointers to software --

. Charles
