Hello,

I have read here more than once than the e-modulus of the wire was unrelated to iH, and I dont understand .

Is the e-modulus of American wire similar to Roslau wire ?
Is the e-modulus of Paulello type O similar to the one of other types ? (is the carbon content modifying significantly the Young modulus ?)

I made an experiment measuring the partials of a Paulello string mounted and using a formula to compute the e-modulus from the iH.

It gave 1.96 it is supposed to be 2.05 for Roslau.

Pure sound is 1.87 (N/m2)

I am a little lost there, it sound simple that a less stiff string is providing less iH, I cannot see why it should not be the case.

Any confirmation or something ?

The metal used is different when making the different Paulello wire, but the M type, (was said) plus a different way to make the wire.

Sorry to be confused there. I will record L modes on type O wire and Roslau wire on a small grand I have there

Here is the experiment done to find the E modulus on type 0 wire (precision was said to be 15% method : Hans Velo) :
