I just put up a blog entry about a trick I've used to help me use intervals instead of notes when sight-reading. Since it worked pretty well, I thought I'd share it here.

What I did for one month, was to only play things transposed. When transposed, the notes are wrong, but the intervals are right, so you're forced to use intervals.

Note that I am not selling anything, and don't make any money from my blog.

Thanks for the tip Al. That is really a great idea. Adult learners who rush through the elementary and other early-level material probably miss a lot of the transposing that a teacher would have six-year olds doing all the time. I know I've done almost zero transposing in my three years with a teacher.
