It's a little odd that a dealer -- with the piano in house and even a photograph clearly showing how to spell it -- manages to get the Pleyel's name wrong in the ad. The Pleyel company has a long and storied history. I thought they had ceased production but it looks like they're still in business. I imagine some other forum members will comment about the potential quality and price of this instrument. Their web site doesn't list any vertical ("upright") models in their current line-up, but their virtual showroom includes a couple of them.

I called up the guy in the ads. They have 2 left in stock, P131 (red) and P124 (black), approximitaly the same price - almost the half price for the pianos on my shopping list (German ones). The original pleyel dealer Euromusic is out of business and are now Steinway Gallery. The pianos have been left in the storage room for SEVERAL years untouched (i would expect seomthing like 5 years). Is this a big problem? would you still consider this as new? i asked my wife if she likes the look of the piano (she wanted a perfect one). She hates the wood finish look. ill try to convience her for to accept the black one .

Go check it out, and get it looked at. It's the same company, new name.

Pleyel has in interesting history. For a while the brand was made by Schimmel (until early 1990s). I remember a local Schimmel dealer selling a 6'7" (I think it was) along the same Schimmel model - he wanted $21,000 or so for the Schimmel, but the Playel, which was now being discontinued by Schimmel, was going for $10,000, new. An employee of the dealer ended snatching it up.
They are now made in France again, very high end. Their showroom at Pleyel Hall in Paris is only open by appointment, at least that was how it was a year ago when I was there.

Thanks again, Steve. I thought they are a part of the Tom Lee division now..
By saying "get it looked at" do you mean looked at by a technician?

They no longer exist. I see nothing wrong with it being a four or five year old new piano. The Manufacturers Warranty Also does not exist. Have a tech check it out. If he says it's alright buy it. Very good piano. The Salon de Playel (concert hall) is still active tho.
