I would call the technician back to have a look. Perhaps a tool was left inside the action cavity. In any case it needs to be looked at.

did he have to glue something ? you have just one note making that noise ?

Yes the tech should be called back.

It can be a screw of the key frame that is not tightened and the key is making noise on it at return, or a stranger element left under the keys.

DO you have the same noise with the sustain pedal engaged ?.
DO you have other notes with the same noise ?

the shank rest cushion is may be teared or missing, you can see that thru the strings (a white cushion)

thanks. i emailed the tech, i don't think he's going to be happy to come back.

the noise seems to go away with the sustain pedal engaged, and it's in about an octave of the piano, starting with the F below middle C up to the E above. i don't know if it matters but that is where the piano goes from the longer diagonal strings to the straighter ones (still 2 strings per note however)

Then may be the damper upstop rail is totally free

Or simply there is a pencil between the dampers and their levers

Or a tool ..

That kind of noise is noticed before leaving a job, so it is a tad mysterious.

Piano nicely tuned, seem to me

It doesn't matter if he's happy to come back or not - this is likely to be a result of his visit, so it's his responsibility to put it right. Probably a simple mistake!

Sounds like it could be a loose hammer rest rail. Something that should have been checked while the action out.
