I have a friend who just doesn't get Victor Borge ('Son of a Sonata' gags etc)......
I feel deep pity for such a person. :-) truly...

Honestly, I don't think the concept is bad at all. I think the concept is pretty funny! I REALLY enjoy comedy. I just think they could have done a better job with it. In my opinion.

I laughed. I'm impressed with how well they can deadpan absurdities--not an easy thing to do! Obviously it's not to everyone's taste, though, and maybe you have to be in the right mood.

OMG---what a lot of dour, humorless people on these comments--lighten up--piano practice can't be that hard on you--or stop listening to Chopin and get a little sunnier with Scarlatti! I think this is a VERY funny video--far from being jealous of the talents of Nick & company I celebrate them--the future of classical music will depend more on this than any sanctimonious "disrespect' this supposedly shows--what drivel.
It is SUPPOSED to seem sexist--and disrespectful--it is called humor, sarcasm--and parody! Yuja is brilliant as a 'straight-man" with wonderful looks and subtle playing against the men's very funny "pretentious' and 'sexist' posturing. Watch some of the other funny Conversation's to get the key to their humor.
My favorite moments--Yuja's look when Nick says to try the bikini-"I mean--I would come to that concert..."; "You have viewer's?"; and Nicks silent look of frustration as Michael says he will "..get a Pepsi with you"--what a funny depiction of a hopeless and hopeful "chatting up"of Yuja--see her eyebrows raise as she realizes it!
What each of us finds funny is always personal--but my,my--so many seem to miss the point or the fun I am truly amazed and puzzled. I give them all credit for many smiles and creative self parody--keep it coming.....

LOLOL!!!! Just noticed this. Thanks for posting it! It is totally hilarious. I cracked up every few seconds. At first I thought those two guys are just morons, but about halfway through I saw that it's a put-on, at least in large part. But it's quite possible they're partial morons. She handled it very well, under the circumstances.

Is it my imagination or did she subtly flip the bird at the end there?

I have spent time with Yuja back when she was in school in Philly. She used our pianos several times. She is truly a grounded kid with a contagious laugh, a sense of humor, and she obviously works very hard. I do not know the young men but I am sure they also work very hard. I totally appreciate the video. They blew off steam and had fun, that is all. Sometimes you need moments like these when this is your field and you are twenty something. Thank you Nick, Yuja, and Pepsi guy.

I have spent time with Yuja back when she was in school in Philly. Now, I am jealous. I think she is one of the most talented up-and-coming pianists anywhere (and one of the most talented currently performing). But I have not had a chance to hear her in concert, or a practice room, or anywhere else other than youtube.

Why is this thing about her dress still an issue? Why does she even talk about it anymore?

Why is this thing about her dress still an issue? Why does she even talk about it anymore? Because this is video was made a couple of years ago, right after the dress 'incident' (which, btw, I adored! :D)... So... She's making fun of all this! Good for her!

I guess at the end of the day, all I can say about this is I just don't care. It didn't seem like something worth working up the energy to defend or be angry over.
I am not a fan of Yuja Wang, but it has nothing to do with her being bad. Just at the end of the day with her particular skills I can think of at least two pianists in the same vein who give me more of what I want when listening. Lang Lang and Volodos(if I want something very fast, very technical).
As for the dress, I enjoyed it, not with my brain of course, which kind of shut off. Which I guess at the end of the day is the real problem.
What I think we have here, is more and more pianists in the same style of entertainment as Liberace. The difference, liberace seemed perfectly able to admit what he was doing, and that he was not the best. Now it feels like the same breed of entertainer is saying they should be taken seriously. Then they cut off an inch from their dress.
