Between me and my student, we have three copies of the Chester Music edition of the Novelettes.
In #3, 2 copies show the downbeat of RH at m. 12 as B, where the 3rd copy shows D. One recording I have plays D.
So what's right? Any clue?

Go with the most recent edition. The bottom righthand corner of the page tells you when the piece was last edited.

I have the Chester edition of the Three Novelettes (1960). In number three in E minor, at measure 12, in the right hand, there is neither a B nor a D.
In my edition there are only five notes in two voices in measure twelve in the right hand. The upper voice has an A quarter-note followed by an E eighth-note. The lower voice : sixteenth-rest followed by two sixteenth-notes, A and C, followed by a dotted eighth-note, E.
Are you sure you have correctly counted the measures? And what do you mean by the "down beat"? the first beat of the measure?
The first note in the right hand of measure 13 is a D.
Regards,

Right. Measure 13. I miscounted. Downbeat = equals 1st beat of the measure.
AZN: I would go with that last edition, but it conflicts with Roge's recording. That's what gave me pause.

D makes more sense to me than B.

I have the 2007 revision of the 1999 edition, which (the book says) is based on Poulenc's autograph. My book has a B.
