Every now and then, usually after my dp has been on for an extended period of time, I find that the sound of various keys is a wavering tone. Then, the next day, it is gone and everything is fine.
Can I assume others here have experienced that same thing ?
And, if so, does anyone have an explanation for that ?

It's just your ears that are out of phase... Seriously though, we do hear things differently at different times of the day - related to tiredness and stress levels. Are you sure this isn't a factor? Do other people hear the same effect? Have you done a recording at opposite ends of the day and directly compared them?

If your DP has a modulation wheel make sure it's fully off, I've played mine in the past and suddenly noticed the sound seems odd and then noticed the mod wheel is slightly pushed forward.
Cheers

Martin If we can assume dmd is talking about his Kawai ES7, then there is no mod-wheel.

No, I have never experienced this. Is it the same through headphones, external speakers, inbuilt speakers, same keys when transposed? Or, as suggested by someone else, you are just tired, or at least your ears are. Do you have tinnitus?

Welll, I had mine on for ages a coupla days ago. It had been hammered by me for some time when one or two of the notes sounded unduly loud; penetratingly (not in the dictionary) so. In fact it was as thought the very Devil imself was in there . . .Horrible!
I switched off, and all was well.

Well, apparently it is not real common. I experienced it with a Yamaha CLP and now with the ES7. It happens very infrequently so I am not motivated to begin sleuthing action, as of yet. I just wanted to check to see if others were experiencing this sort of thing. Thanks for the replies.

Perhaps the keyboard is overheating, especially as it happens more when on for a long time, maybe just one component getting a bit too hot.
Just a thought.
Cheers
Martin.
