For my grand piano, I've isolated a pedal squeak to the contact between the connector rod lock nut (top of bar) and the leather bushing attached to the sostenuto pedal bar.

I've heard graphite as a solution but would like to check with a tech before applying anything to the leather pad that might affect/damage the brass or leather. Saddle soap? Any kind of leather conditioner? Are they also viable solutions? Please advise. Thank you,

Protec grease and teflon powder mixed is a good cure for that kind of connection.

Clean the leather as you can, (80 sanding paper) graphite only is not efficient there and can even squeak.

Vaseline mixed with talcum plus a bit of graphite powder, if you have no other lube, that is sort of graphite grease in the end)
I guess originally it was tallow plus graphite powder.

paraffin works also.
Often the squeaks is due to the rod that is not well driven and is allowed to vibrate while being under lateral stress so check the sid eplay of the rods and their straightness.

I wish to add some kind and sensitive phrase but nothing comes to mind.!
