This is an online course from the Curtis Institute of Music, taught by Jonathon Biss. It's free! Read about it and sign up here. It hasn't started yet. Looks like it will explore the sonatas from the perspective of a performer. Sam

Interesting. Probably a good point to mention the Andras Schiff online lecture series also on the Beethoven Sonatas. I know many people here are familiar with them, but if this is news to you then check them out.

I am unsure if a beginner like myself could do it but it says : It is not necessary to have studied an instrument to take this course, or to have any knowledge of music theory.
So I signed up.... Thanks Sam.

Interesting. Probably a good point to mention the Andras Schiff online lecture series also on the Beethoven Sonatas. I know many people here are familiar with them, but if this is news to you then check them out. I simply love the Schiff lectures. They were introduced to me by my piano teacher, and I have since listened to them several times, often in the car during commutes. They are incredibly insightful but suprisingly entertaining as well.
