Yesterday I was just finishing tuning a beautiful Steinway L for a long-time, slightly kooky customer when she came in from a run and stood next to me as I packed up my tools. She was slightly behind me and I couldn't see her directly. I heard her say "so, will you help me take a shower?"

I froze! Then, I realized...she was talking to her dog at her feet that I couldn't see right away. She never skipped a beat, and I was out of there as soon as I could get my tools packed up.

I've been tuning for over 25 years and that's a real first for me.

Good one, Greg!

A customer asked if there weren't a lot of blind piano tuners, and I said yes, it's a good profession for the visually impaired. He then thought that maybe their previous tuner was blind.

He turned around and yelled, "Honey! Our last piano tuner... was he blind? Or was he deaf?"
