Hi Tom!

I remember the time Charles had the action of his 'D' in the tech workshop at UT back in the early 2000's. I don't think I'd ever seen a set of keys so yellowed...

He was a gentleman.

He obviously had several pianos, but do you think the piano you saw was this 1912 D?

I had forgotten about that. As I recall, there were center pins which had worked their way out, flattened hammers, loose key bushings, etc., but what glorious music came out of that piano!

It just goes to show you that the piano is only one component in making beautiful music.
