Hi there,
wondering if anybody has used a "shark" tuning hammer ?
Realise there is another variety out there.
Want to acquire a lighter hammer due to shoulder problems.
Would appreciate any opinions.
Thanks from Tasmania smile

Everyone I know who has a lightweight tuning lever either has a Fujan, Faulk, or Levitan. I have a Levitan, which is the cheapest lightweight one available, but it is only sold through Pianotek Supply. If you have shoulder problems, you should look at either the Fujan or Faulk because they both have a nice ball on the end for easy, comfortable gripping.

Don't know about the Shark. I use a Faulk and like it a lot. But then I rarely tune any longer.

One of the advantages of working with Charles is his ability and willingness to work with you to come up with just what you need. If you have an idea of what might help you alleviate your shoulder problems contact him and see what you can work out.

I use the Fujan so of course it think it's the best wink although it is the most expensive also. I'm sure the Shark would be fine if you want something lighter and it's less expensive than the Fujan. The difference is in the head. Fujan's is better I think because it's thicker. The Sharks head comes down to a shaft that isn't carbon fiber so there's probably just a tad of flex compared to the Fujan but I'm sure it's a fine tool despite that. If you do get a carbon fiber lever I'd recommend getting the longest you can because that's where the advantage of carbon fiber really shines. You can hold it on the end and get some great control with ease of moving the pin.

Scott has it right, but the difference is more than just a tad. The small threaded rod attaching the "traditional" type head is a major flex point. That lever will not give the precision the Fujan will. I have a very strong opinion on the subject!! smile Best of luck.

Hi All,
thanks very much for the excellent responses.
I am now looking at the Fujan hammer with a view to getting 2 heads.
One for grand, probably 15deg, (left handed tuner) and one for uprights.
The design is fascinating and reviews are very good.
Many thanks,
Rod smile

I use a Fujan as well and simply love it.

Thanks for jumping in Steve. I knew there was a difference but didn't know how much.

I love my Fujan! grin

By the way - With my Fujan I use the carbon fiber end and 15 degree head for uprights and the wooden ball and 20 degree head for grands. You can also use neither and have a shorter and super light lever. I put a plastic chair foot cover over the end to cover up the threads.
