I tried Forte 4 Notation Software and liked it. So I purchased Forte 4 Premium which is on sale until tomorrow. That's the good news.

The bad news is that I'm not getting any response from Forte. I.e. I got the PayPal notice, but nothing from Forte. No receipt. No Activation Code. Nothing.

When I tried to register for their support forum, I got a notice that my registration request needed to be confirmed and that they had sent an email. But so far I've received nothing.

Has anyone dealt with Forte before? I hate to ask this, but are they a reputable company?

Hi, Dan.

More often than not this issue is due to spam filtering on your email account. Go digging in your junk mail for anything that may resemble Forte, PayPal, or whatever company Forte are using for their monetary transactions. Also, I don't know how big an outfit Forte is. If it's a one man operation, could take a day for him to respond? But I suspect it's in your junk mail.

That's the first thing I checked. No filtering rules. Not in the junk box. I even went so far as to log into my service provider's web email client. Nothing there either. Nope. It's not spam filtering.

FYI, the PayPal receive arrived about 30 seconds after I logged the sale. I.e. Forte received my PayPal payment just fine.

Also, this is my second round with Forte. I tried to join their forum a month ago. Same problem - no response. I also logged a question on their website. Same problem - no response.

I cut them some slack then because I figured they were working on their new release. Now I paid for the product and I expect some minimal level of response.

Very good news! Alexander Alves at Forte got back to me with the activation information!

It appears that their email vender has been having problems. This is a horrible problem to have because it blocks your customers from contacting you. Hopefully they haven't lost too many customers because of this.

I'm just started working with Forte. Even with minimal experience, it looks like I've found the right combo of features, ease of use, and price to meet my needs - primarily importing and modifying MIDI files to use for practice.

If you're interested in Forte, today is the last day of their Forte 4 introduction sale - $159 for their top "premium" version. Normally it is $219. Even the normal price is reasonable for that level of functionality, IMO.
