I have to prepare a play for a performance in about 2 months. I have chosen to do a medley of 3 songs. They are all written in G minor and they complete each other like puzzle pieces, so there won't be any dissonant sounds or chops. My problem is the tempo. One of the pieces is entirely calm and slow, another one is calm in the first half, but a bit more intense afterwards, and the third is very aggressive and loud. Here's how I've set up the play:

1. Mikko Tarmia - Lux Tenebras (begins calm, progressively louder)
2. Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna (aggressive and loud)
3. Mikko Tarmia - Alexander's Ending (as a calm epilogue)

I wrote this post because I need some tips on how to gain control of the different tempos and make them sound unibody, so help is appreciated Thanks in advance!

Play each piece at its correct tempo. When one is finished, progress to the next. What else do you want anyone to say? :-)

It's a pity they're all in the same key, makes it rather samey. Contrast is GOOD - don't try to smooth everything out!

I'm not really sure what you're asking. What do you mean by making them sound unibody? How are we supposed to give you advice on how to "gain control of the tempos"? Exalted_Wombat has said everything that can be said with the little information you've given us. Elaborate on what you're having trouble with and we will be better able to help you.

By making them sound unibody I mean giving the audience the sensation that it's a single piece. I don't want 3 choruses. I want a single piece with elements from each of the 3 parts. That is also what I meant by "tempo control": if you change the tempo to 3 different values in the same play, it is surely not going to sound as one whole, but more like 3 chunks played one after another.

I have seen many pieces of music that change tempo in the middle of the piece. There are also pieces that purposely change tempo as well as change keys to create mood changes.
I think if it was played properly, tempo shouldn't be the deciding factor in the success of the performance. There should be many other elements that play important role.
Contrast in music create more interest in my opinion. I would be more inclined to listen to interesting music with a bit of contrast than a dull one.

If you want one long piece, choose and learn one! Why is it so important to make three pieces sound as if they're one piece?
