We finally made up our minds and bought an RX-2 from a private seller. We took delivery yesterday morning and I spent the rest of the day trying to keep our kids from fighting over who got to play it. We have all hardwood floors and a vaulted ceiling, but the sound is not overpowering like I thought it might be. It's painfully obvious that it hasn't been tuned in quite a while, but when we finally get that done we have high hopes for it!

Anyway, thanks for all the advice from posters here, it was really helpful.

Congrats!

I'm confident you'll find the RX quite satisfying.

Sorry, I don't have a place online to host my photos. Thanks Steve, I really hope we're satisfied with it for the long term. It's really out of tune at the moment, it actually needs a pitch raise, and the action needs regulating. My technician thinks it will be fine when it's done but it does sound a little rough right now. We'll have to put up with it for the next couple of weeks while it settles in, but hopefully once the work is done it will be great!

You can post pics in the PW Photo Gallery, and then link them into the thread:

Best of luck!

How can the economy be in the doldrums? The piano transactions on the PW forum alone must be like the 4th largest GDP in the world!

I think it`s great when ya get a new piano. Whatever it is, you get to love it; it`s a man thing rather like yer car or m/b. . . .happy memories will be yours forever. I`ve had a few (pianos, cars, m/bs) I love my latest. It`s a digital . . . sorry! (not really; we`re in the same business. Making music . . .)

Congratulations Concertina!

It's beautiful and you will have many years of enjoyment.

(I hope you like "man things" - LOL)

Hmm, in my family the pianos are "girl things", but my husband and I are both enjoying it. I don't think I love my car in the same way at all! And in my world, m/b means master bedroom. Not sure what it is for people who like "man things".

Also good to think we're stimulating the economy! But we've been planning to get a piano for a long time, we just finally are in a position where we have the space. But if you look at the photos you might be able to tell that we hardly have any furniture besides the piano! So it's all about priorities.

I think the idea of decorating around the piano is the proper one!

(You'll need to ask peterws about his concept of "man things.)
