I just took my very first piano lesson. I was going to teach myself. However, in teaching myself. My first book was: The Art of Practicing by Madeline Bruser. I learned so much from that book. I was so impressed. I had to find a really good teacher.

I'm an adult. 53 years old. I'm in this for serious reasons. I'm not interested in having fun. I wish, in the end, to compose for my words. Have always been good with music. Played a couple instruments as a kid in school. Always wanted to play the piano. To me the piano is a whole education in music, complete. Like no other instrument.
So I found a really good teacher. Degree, Juliard training, composes music himself. Owns his own small record company. He teaches. Highly recommended. Not cheap. The lessons are over Skype.
I want to learn this seriously. I'm so happy with how the first lesson went. I just want to thank all teachers.

That was really thoughtful! I love our teacher too. She is pretty easy going though. How are the skype lessons going? I would totally be open to something like that! It seems totally convenient as well as powerfully effective.

My first lesson went really well. I did find a teacher who isn't too far away. He's in Denver. That's a 6 hour drive for me. So, if there is something that I have to see him in person. I can go there.
I will be in Denver on Memorial Day weekend. He is keeping that in mind in case there are things that would need in person help.
We did notice. There is a lag time in Skype. The audio and video seperates a little. He said he didn't have any problem following my hand with the sound dragging behind a little.
The camera on my laptop is fine for now. There will come a time that I will need a seperate camera. He will like to see a view looking straight down at the keys and my hands. He said himself that I'm fine for now.
I really liked the lesson. I also know that it helps to have someone to answer to on progress.

Interesting I have noticed that; As I get older. I'm picking up teachers. Only wishing to learn. Teachers are one of my greatest resources in staying young. Perhaps younger than I ever was.

There's such an inherent value in learning! I know, I'm what you'd consider a life long learner. I have noticed that Skype occasionally has issues. Maybe you can use a phone for audio while using Skype or try face time. I find the latter is better.
