Do anyone know about the Steinway serial number 600,000?

This web page - http://www.steinwaypianos.com/service/how-old-is-my-steinway stops at 2010. Don't know why. Newer that that, I'd guess. If that doesn't seem reasonable for the piano you're looking at, you may be looking at something other than the serial number.

A Google search led me to a Huffington Post article about one of the tuners at the Astoria factory. The article, dated 2012, says that he is looking forward to tuning #600,000, which is scheduled for production sometime in 2014.

Here's the link for the article about Wally Boot.

He is also featured in the new issue of the S&S Owners' Magazine.

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

I remember seeing him on a tour of the factory I took a couple of years ago. He played the sonata for the tourists. It was quite nice.
