I've lurked for a bit and decided to join. My mother was a professional organist, but apparently I didn't inherit much of her considerable natural talent. I began lessons about two years ago with a wonderful Russian instructor from whom I've learned a great deal. Progress has been glacial at times, but progress nonetheless. I recently acquired a 1940 Mason & Hamlin Model B, which replaced my 1911 Packard Upright that I got for free. Love the M&H! The upright went free to the good home of an incredible pianist who just recently began playing again after a 30 year hiatus. I love classical piano music, especially Chopin and Beethoven. I'm currently working on Hook and Kuhlau sonatinas, the Schubert Waltz in Bm, and some selections from the Tchaikovsky Children's Album. Learning to play the piano has been an endlessly humbling experience, but one I thoroughly enjoy. I hope to contribute here where I can.

Welcome to the forum, songwire! I hope you will consider joining in on our next quarterly e-Recital. And I am obviously a big fan of the M&H sound. I've got a couple pieces up to production tempo. Just have to get up the nerve. Agreed on the M&H sound. Your Model A sounds great! I didn't know there was a test! Ha.
