I don't really get a lot of inside information so I just wanted to float this out there and see if there is more than rumour to this. It appears that a venerable West Coast dealer is about to make some big changes. Some say that a manufacturer is buying them out and will close several locations. People are already loooking for new jobs, so I'm thinking this might come to fruition. Anyone else hear anything about this here in the Bay Area?

I have heard the same thing from several reasonably reliable sources.

Steinway in San Francisco via Sherman-Clay.

This is unconfirmed.

Seems to be a trend. SoCal Pianos in Vista is liquidating to become a Steinway Gallery, as is Field's in Orange County.

Could be an opportunity for some bargains.

From my understanding the details have yet to emerge but the Sacto store appears to be closing soon, or at least major changes.
