Haven't been on here in awhile. Just saying hello whome and seeing where everyone is at. I haven't been practicing as I should I must confess. Although it is still a big part of my life and I am very eager to get back in it. Well hope all is well.

Addictive.

I just bought myself a complete Chopin book, looks like I won't be leaving the house for a bit.

Hi,

Welcome back! smile

I'm chugging along as well, drifting in the fog of dreams and fantasies that I will actually be able to play a piano one of these days. What few music books I do own were given to me... I've never bought one. I've taken on the challenge of teaching myself to play the songs that I want to learn to play. It doesn't really matter if they are played right or wrong, as long as they are somewhat recognizable to me.

I must confess that I like boogie-woogie most of all. And, I think I'm making some good progress there. I usually augment my playing with singing, because it masks the playing a bit. Chord progressions and a simple bass line are within my ability, and the playing and singing can sound nice at times... to me at least.

Others tell me that I play well, but that is because they've never really heard anyone play the piano that plays really well... or, they don't want to hurt my feelings. smile

Glad to see you back!

Rick

Learning to play piano doesn't seem like a battle to me. It's more like a long train trip, lots of interesting stuff going on when you look around, and like Rickster says "chugging along."

+1!
my trip is sometimes really exciting, for example when a new piece clicks and starts being music (sort of), other times a bit frustrating, when it seem, for several weeks in a row, that I'm not making progress at all.
but still, I like this journey, I like when a practice session is good even if I didn't play a single piece but only few measures.

Welcome my friends, to the hill that never ends!

I enjoy uphill cycling. But not the rain. And it rains plenty.

The worst bit about cycling in the rain is trying to stop on a wet road by using wet brakes.
The worst bit about cycling in general is motorists. I haven't ever seen a news item about someone killed by a car while practicing piano, so at least I'm safe there.
The best thing about uphill cycling is downhill cycling!

Hi, just started again, virtually from scratch. Playing Ode to Joy with two hands over and over, slowly....
