What fingering do you suggest for this left hand pattern? (consider a big hand and tempo=140)

51 52 15 15 | 51 52 1 15
51 42 14 15 | 51 52 1 15

The second is an alternate fingering for a slightly larger hand. My hands are a little smaller, so I would use the top one. Depending on your technique preferences, you may still prefer the 5 to the 4.

Use the pedal to sustain the F while you move the thumb to the D. An alternate would be to switch to 2 on the F, then drop the thumb under. This would give you finger legato. Given the speed of the piece, I'm not sure you'd get much bang for this buck.

I use 51 21 25 12 / 51 21 2 15

I find this to be much easier than the previously mentioned fingerings and allows you to play the passage the most legato and smooth-sounding.

PS: I have very large hands. smile

Poly- why do you play a 1 on the bottom note? Seems it would be easier to jump 5-5 to me?

Sorry about that, I meant 5-1. It's changed now. 1-5 would be ridiculous. grin
