BillM - You had me mesmerised. I like your interpretation.
Allard - nice piece. What is it?

Newman, this is a simplified arrangement of "Return to the Heart" by David Lanz.

Good arrangement of Lennon`s thoughtful piece. Dammit, Bill, you must be as old as me . . .

Allard, that piece doesn't sound very good on your piano. I suggest that you get another piano and send the one you have to me. No worries, I'll take it off your hands.

Hi all,

This is the first time I'm participating in a piano bar, and I don't know that it will become a regular habit. But on this occasion, I was inspired by two joyous happenstances:

1) My new apartment, which was supposed to be ready in August (2012), but remains technically unfinished, has nevertheless now become more or less habitable. It has heating (though without a thermostat, and with a boiler that stops working and has to be reset roughly every twelve hours or so), a working toilet (though without a seat), and a mostly-furnished bedroom (though no kitchen). More to the point: it has become mostly stable in temperature, and mostly free of dust, which means I've finally unpacked my one-month-old grand piano. This recording is the first one I ever made on the Boston. It's not very impressive (short and simple piece, recorded by an iPhone), and my piano could definitely do with a tuning, but it is a milestone, of sorts.

2) I recently discovered that two people on the Achievement of the Week thread are working on this piece. Being the social animal that I am (ahum), I thought I'd share my own efforts here.

This recording is far from perfect, and that's not just because of the equipment used (iPhone leaning up against the music stand, out-of-tune grand piano). The beat is a little more uneven than I'd like, and there's one obvious flub, as well as many little ones. But it will have to do. Enjoy:

Plodding through piano music at a frustratingly slow pace since 9/2012.

Standard disclaimer: I teach many things. Piano is not one of them.

Saranoya, your Impertinence sounds great; the trills are awesome! I listened to it twice & couldn't pick out any flub, & I know the piece very well. Whatever you did, I think you could call it an "interpretive gesture" or something, instead of a flub.

Great job, Saranoya. thumb With all the trials and tribulations you've been through it is amazing you were able to pull this together so nicely.

I'm laughing now to think that there is a pub full of people where you live who have probbably heard your Handel many times. wink

Saranoya, I listened to both of these pieces and thought you did a terrific job with both. So glad to hear you're getting settled in your new apartment.

Saranoya, goed bezig laugh

It's so good to hear you can start playing and sharing music on your grand. It doesn't sound nearly as out of tune as mine was. Must have been well packaged!

Thank you so much for your wonderful introduction to Alaska !
Your video and piano music are very calming and inspiring
and make me hope to have the chance to visit Alaska one day !

Best wishes and thanks again from Kristina.

Thank you, David for your dreamy contribution,
your piano-playing sounds very gentle.
What sort of piano do you have, how old is it ?

Thanks from Kristina.

Sorry, Saranoya, could not listen to your Handel-contribution

Kristina: it's a brand new Perzina 152cm grand piano. It has been in my possession for a little over three weeks now and I love it!

You shouldn't need Facebook or a Soundcloud account to listen to Saranoya's contribution, but it requires Firefox with Flash, or Internet Explorer 10, or Chrome to play.

Here`s another from me. I`m working on stuff at the moment, there`s nothing ready yet. But there`s a piano in there somewhere . . be patient! You`ll hear it .

peterws - Your video is really well done. There are few things as relaxing as looking out a train window as lush, green countryside flies by. Your music is the perfect complement to this wonderful video - sure looks different from the Washington, D.C. to New York City views I'm used to seeing on the Amtrak. Once again, I'm deeply impressed by your talents.

peterws Outstanding! I really liked this! Is it you playing all instruments? If so, please let us know how you did this. The music was really good and it fits your video perfectly. It was really beautiful to see the landscape like this. And we didn't even have to pay for a ticket for this virtual trip! The only thing missing is a clip of the cloned cows... Maybe next time... Thanks for sharing!
