Time has always been tight what with having two young kids and a part-time job but theyre a bit older now. More time for me. But there was still a space issue. Its a small house with lots of kid's stuff all over but we recently acquired a large kitchen table, good old solid pine. So during the day when theyre at school, or at night once theyre ensconced in bed I shall bring down my yamaha and set it up on said table. The chairs should be the right height, if not I have a guitarist's stool. I just need a good piano book to teach myself from, and away I go. I might even make recordings which I've discovered from my guitar work can help check on your progress.
Wish me luck...

Good for you Larry. There is a lengthy thread on the Best Method Books for Beginners, so you might check that out.
I saw on the Digital Piano forum that you have a 5-octave Yamaha keyboard. I started with something very similar with a similar premium on space. I had my 61-key Yamaha NP11 under the bed and set it up on a folding stand each time I wanted to play. I learned a lot on the Yamaha.
I upgraded to a Casio PX-150 (demo unit) three months ago. It is like going from a old time three-speed bike to a modern bike with 18 to 30 speeds. If you are short on funds, you might see if there are any refurbished or demo units available. The Casio PX-150 typically sells for $600 USD in the U.S., and I bought my demo unit for $453. Out of the box, I could not tell it was a demo unit, it looked good as new to me.

if you have to setup your piano every day, that could get annoying fast. measure your keyboard, make 2 triangle braces out of 1 by 2s, find the studs in a free wall ideally by a window, screw the 2 braces into the studs to hold your keyboard. at the right height (google it). I remember when my 2 kids got old enough to LET ME PLAY. That was a great time in my life. (And still is - just hit Grandpa-dom!) Try out a Yamaha CP-33 while you're trying stuff out. And good luck to ya !!

Thanks guys. Revised plan. The space where its sat right now is to become available permanently, so no need to lug it downstairs every time! Im not quite the beginner though, Ive had keyboards in my life since I was 11. I just lacked direction and motivation.
