I received my new CN34 yesterday. It looks great, but when I turn it on I hear a hum. I have nothing else connected to it (so I presume it's not a "ground loop"). The volume of the hum does not increase with the volume control. It's definitely an electrical hum, not a part of the case vibrating. When my wife sat in front of it for the first time she said "I can hear a hum", which wasn't a good start.
Is this to be expected? Should it be completely silent without a key being pressed? I didn't hear the hum in the shop, but there was a lot of background noise then.
I have informed the supplier, but just wanted to make sure this is not normal.
Many thanks, Ian

Bummer - Have you tried plugging it into different outlets in the house?
Also, does it have an external power supply?

Send it back. Defective new merchandise should not be tolerated.

I don't hear a hum from mine so It's definitely not normal. I'd follow up with the supplier.

Thanks all. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't normal. @Plink88 - no, internal power supply. I've changed the power lead and tried a different socket. @Prat0 - the noise is loudest underneath, just to the left of the power cord input. If you can't hear it then mine must be faulty, as it's pretty obvious to me and my family.
The supplier has asked me to send them a recording of the sound, so I'll see what happens. They've been very helpful and apologetic so I'll see how this goes.
Cheers
