Funny, I miss Sundays here.

Not so funny, I miss a wider cohort of companions. No offence to the 'mighty handful' here present!

Roll on April 22.

A little sample of the art of Alicia de Larrocha, just to say happy weekend to everyone.

And good night, here it's late!

Recaredo, I LOVE Alicia. I often listened to my mum's records of some of her performances as a child. And now, as an adult, I have her EMI box set, amongst others.

Here's something a little different.

You’re welcome Wayne.

Long time ago I read an article about the pianist Gabriela Montero, where her improvisation abilities on the piano got huge praises. Then Youtube didn’t exist, and I wondered how those improvisations would sound .

Now I’ve discovered that indeed those abilities are amazing.

That was nice folks.

Just a little post to say we have just about a month left before the mendelssohn recital.

So, that said, i think its fair to say that there is now EVERY need to start to panic and have an anxiety attack or six.

I have booked a nervous breakdown for saturday 20th april 2013 at 4.15 pm, so do remember I got this time and date in first, and should anyone else ask for this exact time and date for their personal nervous breakdown, they will be dissapointed.

Please do not ( Richard) try and coerce anyone else to apply for this time and date, I got there first, it is my time and date and I am going to use it and will not swap it for anyone elses time and date nor will I give it up by duress being put upon me.

This evening I’ve listened to this outstanding performance on Mahler’s Second Symphony. It’s impressive to listen to these young people performing such a masterwork, both orchestra and chorus, masterfully conducted by Dudamel.

More over, this video was uploaded in high sound and image quality. It’s a real luxury we can access to, at least for now.

Hi folks
In case any of you who are taking part in the forthcoming 'big one' need a bit of inspiration ... here's what I consider to be a great and dramatic piece written and performed by Rachmaninov. I heard it in the car a few days ago and it was totally absorbing!

Happy practising!

PS I hope those of you not taking part enjoy it too of course!

I sent my submission of the Mendelssohn to Rossy. Now I feel like learning another piece, so I wanted to ask about the next themed recital. I heard of a recital on Grieg Lyric pieces, that would be a lovely idea.

I have had an Idea for that Recaredo that i was hoping folk would like...
here it is:

To take a bit of pressure off and make it slightly more relaxing, how about a piece of music from any BLACK AND WHITE movie?

what thinks everyone, ideas as usual not on a postcard, but right here!

later dudes and dudettes.

R.

After the Mendelssohn, some more relaxing recital sounds nice, but I know nothing about that genre, Rossy. Are there any websites where we can see info, samples or music scores?

Recaredo, "you know nothing of that genre?" what , you have never seen a black and white film from the past? i am amazed and confused in equal measure!! lol.

Think dambusters, or 633 squadron., or hitchcock films like "rebecca" or "psycho" or even . if you want to get really tricksey "dangerous moonlight"

and what is the music from dangerous moonlight one may ask?

well, its this: the warsaw concerto... hmmmm, maybe a black
and white film with something a little easier..lol

I did just find out that Corinne Bailey Rae did a cover of a Belly song a while back. Sorry about the ad!
