My Yamaha PSR 225 is a bit old now and the OTS (One Touch Settings) doesnt work. I followed the online manual (mine got recycled a while ago) but nothing was saved.
Im guessing theres a flat onboard battery somewhere but I dont recall reading about it.
In the meantime I have to set up the ideal settings for the piano tone Im using (reverb, touch response etc) each time I switch it on.
Well, it is 14 years old...

I had a PSR 630, a cracking machine from many years back. The instruments were awesome; I used it in a band with a PA system to do it justice.
But I too had the day when the thing had to be left plugged in to hang on to the presets. The batteries worked, but ran down so quickly.
The engineer from the shop gave me no joy. It was still under extended warrenty; kept saying he could find nothing wrong.
Sounds like a capacitor, but I changed most o` mine and achieved nothing.
Give it a good send off . . .you`ve had it long enough!

Oh no I cant, its my only keyboard! No DP or acoustic piano here. If I do get a better option I will give the PSR to my kids.
But for now I need it!

Sounds like either a capacitor or even an internal battery that has lost its charge over time. Many of the more feature-rich DP's have an internal coin-type lithium battery that is either soldered or clipped in to place on one of the circuit boards which is responsible for maintaining user settings when the instrument is off or unplugged. The average service life of these batteries is +/- 10 years. Your board may be too old to have used a lithium battery, but it is worth checking on.

One of the problem with my casio ap-620 is that it also can't save user settings. Now I'm curious if my issue is due to a low battery. This piano is less than 2 years old?
